Srinagar, May 16 (KNO) : The members of J&K High Court Bar Association, Srinagar, held a General Body Meeting here today in High Court Bar Conference Room. The members as per a statement issued to KNO strongly condemned the killing of one unarmed civilian and injuring of another, by resort to indiscriminate use of force by the Govt. forces at Delipora Pulwama and demanded that the International Community and other Human Rights Organizations of the world should take notice of these barbaric events and prevent India from violating the basic and inalienable human rights of the people of Kashmir with impunity. The Bar members also expressed their grief over the sad demise of Arshid Hussain Dar of Mirgund Pattan, who had sustained pellet injuries on Monday, when he alongwith other civilians, was protesting against the kidnapping and rape of a 3-year-old girl, of Sumbal, Sonawari District Baramulla and was fired upon by the Govt. forces and had to be rushed to hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to the pellet injuries. The Bar members once again reiterated their stand that using brute force to muzzle the people or conducting elections in the State, is no solution to the Kashmir problem and that Indian Leaders should try to understand the ground realities and find out a solution to the Kashmir tangle in the light of the UN Security Council Resolutions, so as to bring an end to the sufferings and miseries of the people of Kashmir, who are at the receiving end for the last 70 years. The Bar members also condemned the rape incident of a 16-year-old minor girl by a youth at Haran Ganderbal and demanded that the accused, who has been already arrested, should be tried by a fast track court and awarded exemplary punishment. The Bar Association also paid rich tributes to Shaheed Molvi Mohammad Farooq, who was fired upon and martyred on 21st of May, 1990 at his Nigeen residence. While remembering the sacrifices given by the said leader and his family members, in supporting and propagating the cause of the people of Kashmir, it was stated that he was a bold leader and a great articulator and had the potential to go to any extent to espouse the cause of the people for their social and political upliftment. The members also decided to support the programme devised by the leadership for 21st of May, 2019. The Bar Association also supports the strike call given by JRL, for 17th of May, 2019, against the recent killings.(KNO)
